IZKF Symposium 2024

On 20 and 21 June, around 160 participants came together in Kloster Banz for the 9th IZKF Symposium. We would like to thank the speakers for their inspiring presentations. Together with the active participation of the IZKF members, they made the symposium an enriching experience.

We hope that everyone benefited from the discussions and exchanges and look forward to welcoming you again at future events.

In addition to an attractive lecture programme, there was also a poster exhibition with around 80 exhibitors. We would like to take this opportunity to present the award winners. One poster prize worth 250 euros was awarded to:

  • Tochoedo, Nounagnon Romaric, Department of Dermatology: Understanding the complex murine DC network and its role during Leishmania infection
  • Schmidt, Antonia, Institute of Biochemistry – Chair of Biochemistry and Pathobiochemistry: Gpr37 is regulated by Sox10, Nkx2.2 and Zfp488 during oligodendrocyte differentiation
  • Staudner, Tobias, Institute of Cellular and Molecular Physiology: Generation and electrophysiological analysis of a gain-of-function polycystin-1/polycystin-2 heteromeric ion channel
  • Oltmanns, Friederike, Institute of Clinical and Molecular Virology: A mucosal vaccination with endogenous tumour antigens protects against pulmonary breast cancer metastases

Dr Oana-Maria Thoma (Department of Medicine 1) was also awarded the publication prize. Dr Thoma was able to prevail against 18 competitors and presented her publication on “p21 Prevents the Exhaustion of CD4+ T Cells Within the Antitumor Immune Response Against Colorectal Cancer (Gastroenterology. 2024 Feb;166(2):284-297.e11. doi: 10.1053/j.gastro.2023.09.017. Epub 2023 Sep 19.)”.
